Nancy Retter is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with the Midwifery Care Associates group at Simmonds, Martin & Helmbrecht of Advantia and is currently practicing at the Damascus and Frederick locations outside of Washington, D.C. She is trained and available to care for women of any age and in all life stages. From contraception counseling and long-term birth control options like IUD to pregnancy and midwifery care, Nancy offers her patients a considerate and personalized care experience.
What led you to become a Certified Nurse-Midwife?
I’ve had a long-time passion for helping women through the birthing process. I am very excited to have the opportunity to help the women in this community through birth and throughout their lifetime.
What women’s care do you specialize in?
I specialize with a focus on maternal mental health in the postpartum period. It’s very important to support women through that period. Oftentimes, there are limited resources for women, and I appreciate the opportunity to help.
What did you want to be growing up?
I’ve always wanted to be a nurse throughout my childhood and growing up. I always loved the idea of caring for people. It’s been a strong passion of mine throughout my whole life.
If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?
If I were a superhero, I would love to have telekinesis.
