Katherine Robbins is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Liv by Advantia Health and is currently accepting appointments at the location on U Street in Washington D.C. With over eight years of experience supporting patients through all stages of life, she is excited to create a supportive, judgment-free space for women, whether you’re preparing for birth or taking care of annual preventative care.

How did you begin working in women’s health?

I began my healthcare journey in the intensive care unit, building a strong foundation in acute critical care. I then discovered my passion for women’s health, and became a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Sibley Memorial Hospital. This helped shape a deep understanding of the birthing process—not just clinically, but emotionally and physically. I’ve supported countless women through labor and birth, and I aim to bring that same calm, confident presence to every patient who comes through my door. Pregnancy and childbirth are deeply personal experiences, and I am committed to providing care that is both empowering and grounded in trust.

What made you want to live in Washington, D.C.?

I was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, and am currently a Washington, D.C., resident. And I have to say that I just love this area so much, which is one of the reasons I chose to move back here to raise my children. I have a four-year-old and a 10-month-old right now, and I like introducing my four-year-old to all the things that I appreciated about growing up here. We of course like going down to the National Mall and visiting the museums, and I take him to some of my favorite museums, like the Museum of Asian Art, where we wander around and discuss all of the fun statues there and different things to explore.

What is one of your favorite places you’ve traveled to?

So, one of my favorite places I’ve traveled to actually was doing a cross-country road trip in the United States. I’ve traveled to many places, and I think one of the most influential things I did was in my late 20s; I took two months and I just drove across the United States with my two little dogs and we camped in all sorts of places and visited friends and family all over the country. Just getting to explore our country was an amazing experience for me and makes me so appreciative, especially when I get to meet patients from all over—sometimes I’ve been to where they lived or grew up and it’s fun to make those connections.

Why do you like working at Liv?

What I like about working at Liv is that I can see people from their very first appointment with a gynecologist, discussing birth control, abnormal bleeding, and any concerns about the vagina, all the way through to pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. It’s so wonderful to be able to start relationships that I know can grow for years and years
