She is passionate about building a foundation of trust between doctor and patient, in order to provide individualized, evidence-based care. She will always meet you, the patient, where you are in your health journey. From there, her goal is to educate and support her patients to feel empowered and make informed decisions about their health.
What women’s care do you specialize in?
As an OBGYN, Dr. Jaeger is available to work with patients needing obstetric care, gynecologic care, or both! She has experience helping women navigate birth control and contraception questions, menopause lifestyle changes, and STD testing and treatment. She is also available to assist with pregnancy, labor, and delivery needs, as well as high-risk pregnancies.
What is your background in women’s health?
Dr. Jaeger received her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois. Here, she also completed her residency, where she gained extensive experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients and received comprehensive training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Why do I need an annual well-woman exam?
A yearly well-woman exam is important for overall health. Even if a woman feels fine and isn’t having any problems, the purpose isn’t just pap smears, which you don’t actually even need every year anymore. It’s a chance to check in on a woman’s health as a whole. So there are a few main reasons: One, preventative care. We can screen for conditions like cervical cancer and breast cancer, but also high blood pressure or other health issues.
We can also address reproductive health. We can discuss menstrual cycles, birth control, family planning, or menopause, which then allows for early detection of things like gynecologic issues, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and pre-cancer changes, which may not really display symptoms at first.
Exams can catch problems early when they’re easiest to treat. It also provides an opportunity for health counseling, so we can answer questions about different things, such as periods, sexual health, pregnancy, menopause, bone health, and lifestyle habits like exercise, diet, and sleep. It also gives us an opportunity to build relationships with our patients, patients who we see throughout all different times of their lives.
