What is your care philosophy?
Great healthcare is a joint venture between the patient and the doctor, built on a foundation of mutual respect and dialog. I meet so many patients who think that doctors will be dictatorial, but we really listen to patients and respect their wants and needs – I enjoy talking with patients and establishing that foundation with them.
What inspired you to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology?
When I started med school, I originally thought I wanted to be a heart surgeon, but I was still open to other specialties and knew that I really enjoyed being in the operating room. I eventually decided on OB-GYN because I realized that I could stay in touch with my patients across many of life’s milestones. I’ve known many of my patients for over 30 years, and they are like family to me.
What improvements to women’s care have you seen since you began practicing medicine?
There have been so many great changes: fetal monitoring and sonogram are more sophisticated, equipment and technology for minimally invasive surgeries are much better, testing for abnormal pap smears and HPV is dramatically better. The vaccine for HPV is amazing.
Are you from the DC area?
We moved around the U.S. some while I was a kid, but I mostly I grew up in Pittsburgh. When I came to the DC area for school, I just fell in love with it here. I enjoy the DC weather, and despite growing up near the Steelers, I’ve enjoyed adopting the Redskins as my football team. I like to root for the underdog!
What is your best advice for new parents?
Give your kids unconditional love even after they turn left when you wanted them to turn right. Being a parent is one of the best things in the world, and being a father may be the best thing. I’m incredibly blessed to have a wonderful wife and beautiful, talented twin daughters. I love being a doctor and a father.
What are your best tips for staying healthy?
Stay away from sugar and stay active. Our girls are grown now, and looking back, I think it was very important that we encouraged them to play sports. It reinforced our values and beliefs in staying fit and healthy.
What distinguishes your practice from others?
Having both newer and more experienced doctors in our practice is really valuable. It facilitates the combination of new ideas with decades of experience, and our patients receive better care because of it. During my residency, I rotated through Holy Cross Hospital and met the founders of this practice. I joined them because I was impressed by the intellectual integrity and also because we have all of the facilities (in our office) to test and gather information quickly. This has continued to be true across the years, and I’m proud to work with the doctors in our practice.
If I wasn’t a doctor, I’d be…?
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a professional football player, but being a doctor is the perfect profession for me. I find it incredibly rewarding, and I go home at the end of the day feeling really good about the work I’ve done and the patients I’ve helped.

I’m Dr. Diane Snyder, Board Certified Ob/Gyn with a Focused Practice in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.
During medical school, I was debating between pediatrics and Ob/Gyn and for a variety of reasons chose Ob/Gyn. During my residency training, I was introduced to the sub-specialty of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (PAG) by one of my attending physicians and knew it was an area I wanted to pursue. During my last year of residency, I did an elective rotation at Boston Children’s Hospital which really introduced me to the field. I ended up not doing a fellowship and started to slowly incorporate younger patients into my practice.
Once I stopped practicing Obstetrics in 2002, I was able to focus more on this age group. I started giving lectures to pediatric groups as well as in middle and high schools.
Joining the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG) has been most helpful with monthly journals, international listserve, and annual National conferences. This is a group of many specialties that focuses on delivering medical care to pediatric and adolescent females.
PAG covers many medical and gynecologic conditions and some diagnoses that can be devastating to a young patient (Premature ovarian insufficiency or Mullerian anomalies) and I find it extremely gratifying to be a part of the care journey for these patients.
Helping young women manage their contraceptive choices, feel positive about their sexuality, and improve their menstrual disorders are but a few of the things I love about pediatric and adolescent gynecology.

Dr. Kressel is a general Ob-Gyn who loves learning her patient’s stories, counseling them to help them understand any aspect of women’s health, and fine-tuning the patient experience to bring healthcare to the next level.
Fun facts about Dr. Kressel: She was briefly in the “two under two” club with two boys, born in 2018 and 2020. She felt so passionate about the Liv opportunity that she flew to DC for the day and interviewed for her position when she was almost 36 weeks pregnant (and went on to deliver in the 37th week)!

Telehealth, which is also known as telemedicine or telehealth services, allows you to conduct a video-based appointment with your health care provider using a computer, smartphone or other communications technologies instead of visiting the provider in-person in their office. Remote patient monitoring, another form of telehealth, enables patients to transmit data such as blood glucose or blood pressure readings to their providers.
Providers at many of Advantia Health’s practices offer telehealth appointments, including those for mental health services, non-urgent gynecological issues, lab and test results, menopausal symptoms, contraception consultations and prescription refills. Telemedicine is a great alternative for visits that do not require a physical exam.
Telehealth may not be appropriate for every type of visit or condition, so it is important to work with your provider to determine the best course of treatment for you.
Advantia Health clinicians include licensed clinical social workers, who specialize in helping people work through depression, relationship difficulties, anxiety, grief, trauma, addictive behaviors and adjustments to life transitions through different therapeutic approaches. These experienced providers offer in-person and telemedicine appointment options.
Telehealth consultation appointments may save you time, allow you to be seen by your provider sooner or provide you with access to providers (including specialists) who are located farther away from you. This convenient appointment format also reduces the risk of exposure to communicable diseases, which is especially important for persons with compromised immunity, including pregnant women or the elderly.
By eliminating the need to travel to your doctor’s office, you also save money on gas, parking or mass transportation.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many private insurers and public health plans have expanded coverage to include telehealth visits. Typically, those visits are treated the same as an in-person visit for insurance billing purposes. That means you are likely to incur a co-pay similar to an in-office visit. For individual coverage questions, you should always contact your insurance provider.
Telehealth is an effective format for consultations about birth control and other medications and refill requests. Qualified providers can prescribe new medications, adjust prescriptions and follow up on related issues and concerns via telehealth appointments.
Advantia uses secure and HIPAA-compliant video platforms for telehealth to protect your health information and privacy.
You do not need to download an app or log on to your Patient Portal account to participate in an athenaTelehealth visit. In fact, you do not even need to have a Portal Account, although it is encouraged. Simply schedule a telehealth appointment and follow the steps in the confirmation and reminder messages you receive. When you join the online visit, they will see the name of the practice at the top of the page.
Perform a pre-appointment device check.
If you choose to access the appointment through the Patient portal, you can view upcoming athenaTelehealth appointments on the Patient Portal in both desktop and mobile. You can cilck the Join Telehealth Call button to start your visit.
Please call your health care provider’s office to schedule a telemedicine appointment to determine if your medical concern can be handled remotely. Some practices may limit telemedicine to existing patients.
Follow the instructions below!
Telemedicine lets you connect to your provider remotely over video. Telemedicine is a great alternative for visits that do not need a physical exam.
Telemedicine makes it possible for you to consult with your physician via video.
Allows access to specialty care
Reduced chances of catching a new illness. (Reduces risks of exposure to communicable diseases – especially important for persons with compromised immunity, pregnant women or elderly)
Eliminated transportation time and costs:
Money spent on gas, parking, and public transportation are immediately terminated. Also, providing immediate relief to those in rural areas or with limited physical abilities.
Not required to take time off from work or school.
Broader reach to specialists:
Some visits with specialists require longer commute times. When you’re dealing with a serious health ailment, you should be able to consult with the best.
Convenience
At this time please call your medical provider’s office to schedule a telemedicine appointment to determine if your medical concern can be handled remotely.
During this coronavirus outbreak most insurance companies are expanding their coverage for telemedicine. Typically a telemedicine visit is treated the same way as an in-person visit for insurance billing purposes. For individual coverage questions, always contact your insurance provider.
Telemedicine visits are great for follow-up visits, medication questions, reviewing lab and test results and general questions. Some examples include consultations for birth control and contraception, menstrual problems, and mental wellness.
Advantia uses secure and HIPAA compliant video platforms to protect patients’ health information and privacy.
Your providers office will share a personalized web link with you. This link works with any browser on a computer/device that is equipped with camera and microphone.
You can use a computer with a webcam or a smartphone with camera and microphone. Please ensure you have adequate broadband internet connection or a data plan for your smartphone.
Please read this document completely.
You are a current patient of the Practice and are 18 years or older.
You have scheduled your telemedicine appointment in advance with the Practice.
This is not an emergency situation. If this is an emergency please contact emergency services by calling 911 immediately.
I have the right to withhold or withdraw my consent to the use of telemedicine in the course of my care at any time without affecting my right to future care or treatment.
The laws that protect privacy and confidentiality of medical information also apply to telemedicine.
Telemedicine is one of the variety of modalities for the provision of medical care that may be available to me.
I may refuse to participate in a telemedicine interaction and ask my provider about alternative methods of care.
If my provider believes I would be better served by another form of service (e.g. in person), I may need to make an in-office appointment for appropriate care.
In the event of an advance reaction to treatment or an inability to communicate as a result of a technical or equipment failure, I understand I may need to seek follow-up care or assistance at the recommendation of my provider.
I understand that no warranty or guarantee has been made to me with regards to any results or cure.
I have been given an opportunity to ask questions about my condition, alternative forms of anesthesia and treatment, risks of non-treatment, the procedures to be used, and the risks and hazards involved, and I believe that I have sufficient information to give this informed consent.
I have read and understand the information provided above regarding telemedicine and hereby authorize my provider and its employees, agents and independent contractors, to use telemedicine in the course of my diagnosis and treatment.
BY ENGAGING IN THIS TELEMEDICINE SESSION YOU AGREE AND CERTIFY THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ABOVE, AND UNDERSTAND THE RISKS AND BENEFITS OF TELEMEDICINE. BY ACCEPTING THESE TERMS YOU HEREBY GIVE YOUR INFORMED CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A TELEMEDICINE VISIT AND FOR THE USE OF TELEMEDICINE IN YOUR MEDICAL CARE.
