ROSSLYN, Va., Feb 20, 2019 – Today, Advantia Health announced that it has acquired Heartland Women’s Healthcare, an OB-GYN practice with 25 locations across Missouri and southern Illinois. Heartland Women’s Healthcare will add 180,000 patients to Advantia’s patient base along with 50 doctors, nurse practitioners, and midwives. Heartland’s consumer focused approach provides patients with convenient ways to communicate with their care team, including a Patient Support Center open seven days a week, live online chat, and a 24/7 patient portal. Heartland is Advantia’s first expansion outside of the mid-Atlantic region.
With its acquisition of Heartland, Advantia will continue to drive better outcomes, lower costs, and an improved experience for its consumers, particularly women. Advantia is focused on quality, care model innovation, and the use of technology to deliver empathetic, convenient and coordinated care. Advantia’s Women’s Health Hubs integrate OB-GYN services, mental health and wellness, lightweight primary care ensuring convenient access to meet a women’s health care needs through one location they already know and trust.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Schifano and his entire team at Heartland to our Advantia Health family and we are excited to take our first steps as we expand from a regional to national healthcare provider,” said Sean Glass, Founder and CEO of Advantia Health. “Heartland’s emphasis on providing quality, convenient care to consumers closely aligns with Advantia’s mission of a value-based approach to health care.”
Heartland has paved the way in innovation, putting into use technologies and systems that have served the needs of women in the Midwest through digital services and other care innovations. With the Heartland acquisition, Advantia expands the number of providers to approximately 200 in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, and Virginia, and will serve nearly half a million patients.
“Advantia Health is an outstanding match for Heartland,” said Dr. Michael Schifano, founder and managing partner of Heartland Women’s Healthcare. “We share the same vision for the future of women’s healthcare and this new partnership will allow us to continue to grow into the communities in need of a strong option for convenient, coordinated and quality care.”
“At Advantia, we’re leading the way in value-based care that focuses on delivering the highest quality and improving outcomes for women and their families,” said Dr. Lisa Shah, Advantia’s Chief Medical Officer. “Heartland embodies our mission-driven approach and we’re excited to combine teams as we work together to enhance care delivery that we expect will set new industry standards for patients and providers alike.”
This spring, Heartland will open a new 8,000 square-foot obstetrics and gynecology medical building in Wentzville, Missouri. The new building will provide up to 10 new jobs, 14 examination rooms, a 4D ultrasound theater, lab, and two procedure rooms. Due to open spring 2019, Heartland will add a 16,000 square foot medical building in Shiloh, Illinois on what is being called the Medical Mile. This building will accommodate up to 10 providers, 32 examination rooms, four ultrasound theaters, two labs, two procedure rooms and create approximately 20 jobs.
“We are excited to join forces with Advantia and believe this new partnership will ensure we continue to deliver quality care and services to consumers,” said Dr. Schifano. “In our desire to grow and provide care to more women in the midwest, we were approached by many but none were the right fit until Advantia. They eclipsed the competition with a concerted vision for differentiation by embracing innovation to compassionately transcend healthcare for women and their families. Our united commitment, that of Advantia and Heartland, is to lead this transformation and not be just another provider of women’s healthcare.”
