What is your care philosophy?
I am passionate about improving women’s access to health care, and especially contraception. There are a wide variety of contraception methods available to women, and I enjoy helping my patients find the exact right compliment for their lifestyle and health needs. I am trained to perform permanent sterilization procedures as well as the implantation of long acting, but reversible options for contraception such as the IUD and Nexplanon.
Are you from the DC area?
My parents moved from India to the US in the late 1970s, and we still try to travel back to India as much as possible. Over the years, I moved around quite a bit in the United States; however, I mostly grew up in Ohio, where I attended Ohio State University. Yes, I’m an Ohio State Buckeye fan! Go Bucks!
What is the biggest misconception about your field?
I find that some people don’t understand the depth of care that Ob-Gyn’s provide. Yes, we perform gynecological surgery/procedures and take care of pregnant patients, but we also play a large role in women’s primary care and preventative care needs.
What are your best tips for staying healthy?
Stay active and eat healthy! Trying a variety of activities to keep yourself interested in exercise can be helpful to staying motivated. I use ClassPass, as it provides me with an assortment of cardio and strength training classes: Yoga, TRX Suspension Training, Barre classes. I truly believe that if you live better, you will feel better!
What distinguishes your practice from others?
One of the great things about our practice is that we have diversity in both our patient population and our doctors. We treat women of all ages and backgrounds, and our doctors are also very diverse. We have both male and female doctors of varying ages and backgrounds – something for everyone.
If I wasn’t a doctor, I’d be…?
I really am one of those doctors who always wanted to be a doctor. My parents are small business owners, and my two sisters are both pharmacists, but I always wanted to be a doctor.
