She holds a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Marymount University, a Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University.
Susan has always had a passion for women’s and children’s health. She has worked in this field for over 40 years as a labor and delivery nurse, school health nurse, a nurse educator, and now a midwife. She has taught in a second-degree BSN program and was a hospital-based nurse educator for the Inova Health System. She has successfully helped two hospitals achieve Baby-Friendly status, including Inova Alexandria Hospital. She is also a certified yoga instructor and health coach.
Susan believes in safe, woman-centered care and seeks to help all the women she cares for to have an optimum childbirth/health experience of their choice. She has a particular interest in evidenced-based education to best partner with women and their families in making good, well-informed decisions about their own health care and birth experience.
When she is not playing with her grandchildren, you can find her on a yoga mat, baking in the kitchen, or packing for her next adventure!
