Kathleen is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Lactation Consultant. Born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Loudoun County, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a BS in nursing and an MS in nursing, both from VCU.
Prior to joining Physicians and Midwives, Kathleen worked in labor and delivery at the VCU Health System. After graduating with her Masters and leaving bedside nursing, Kathleen served as an assistant clinical professor of nursing at the VCU School of Nursing in the undergraduate and graduate programs. During her tenure at the School of Nursing, Kathleen was the principal investigator on research efforts determining the effect of lay childbirth support on birth and breastfeeding outcomes for low socioeconomic status women and families. She comes to Physicians and Midwives from CrossOver Healthcare in Richmond where she served as the Director of Nursing and women’s health NP providing clinical oversight for the clinic’s obstetrics program.
Kathleen considers it an honor and privilege to have cared for women across the lifespan for the last 16 years. She is a strong proponent of providing evidence based care and engaging in shared decision making with her patients and their families. Kathleen holds special clinical interest in contraception counseling, preconception counseling, adolescent gynecology, and high risk obstetric care.
When not at work, Kathleen is busy caring for her own children, a daughter, Mathilda and a son, Jack. While the hassles and joys of raising two children don’t leave her much free time, she enjoys playing the piano, cooking, and traveling in those rare off moments.
