Our Early Gender Testing Options
Early Gender Test via Blood Work
While every person has her own DNA in her bloodstream, a pregnant woman’s bloodstream also contains DNA from her unborn child. SneakPeek Gender Test looks for male chromosomes in a small sample of mom’s blood. If male chromosomes are found, that means the baby is a boy. If none are found, the baby is a girl.
How Early Can You Test for Gender?
SneakPeek Gender Test. which has been shown to be 99.9% accurate as early as 6 weeks, can be used any time between 6 weeks into pregnancy and birth. Sex identification via blood work is available much sooner than ultrasound, which can be used with approximately 70% accuracy starting at 11 weeks.
Benefits of Early Gender Testing
Early Bonding: Knowing your baby’s gender can enhance your connection even before birth. It helps you envision their personality, interests, and future, fostering a deeper bond.
Informed Decision-Making: Early gender detection allows expectant parents to make thoughtful choices regarding the nursery, clothing, and other essentials. It also facilitates name selection and planning a gender-specific baby shower.
Preparing Siblings: For families with older children, knowing the new baby’s gender can ease their transition into welcoming a little brother or sister. This information helps create a supportive environment for everyone involved.
Screening for Gender-Specific Conditions: While rare, some genetic disorders affect only one gender. Early knowledge of your baby’s gender enables healthcare providers to perform timely screenings, potentially improving management and outcomes.
How Does an Early Gender Test Work?
SneakPeek Labs utilizes a process called non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) to analyze cell-free fetal DNA. The process begins with a small blood sample from the mother, which can be easily collected at a Heartland Women’s Healthcare lab. After centrifugation, plasma is separated from the whole blood, and the extracted cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) is tested for Y chromosomes, which are present only in males. The SneakPeek test is sensitive enough to detect even a single Y chromosome, providing you with confidence in your results.
Results will be sent via email to the address provided on the consent form. You can expect to receive your results within 24-48 hours, excluding Sundays and major holidays. Since the SneakPeek lab is located in California, test result emails are typically sent after 6 PM CST. If the test is performed on a Friday, results will likely arrive on the following Monday.
How Accurate Are Early Gender Tests?
A recent study by MedCrave concluded that SneakPeek’s early gender DNA test has been found to be over 99% accurate when determining fetal sex, as confirmed at time of birth!
The accuracy is not impacted by being previously pregnant with a boy, because fetal DNA is no longer present in a mom’s bloodstream three days post-birth. Additionally, breastfeeding will not impact test results.
Expecting mothers do not need to be a Heartland Women’s Healthcare patient for this test. At Heartland, the SneakPeek Clinical early gender DNA tests cost $149. This fee is not covered by insurance and is due before the test is performed. Book your early gender testing appointment now.
