Washington, D.C. (March 25, 2021) – Liv by Advantia Health, the first practice to offer women complete, coordinated care in the Washington, D.C. region, opened its doors today at 1443 U Street NW. Liv is making healthcare more convenient and more comfortable by providing obstetrics, gynecology, primary care, mental wellness, and more at one location specifically designed for women’s wellness. Liv is the flagship practice of innovative, fast-growing provider Advantia Health, and an essential part of its mission to transform healthcare for all women.
“We believe the healthcare industry can and must do better for women,” said Vincent Bradley, CEO of Advantia Health. “Advantia Health is proud to be leading on this front with Liv. Our team built Liv with women at the center of the care experience and every decision about the space and care model, creating a practice that solves frustrating problems and brings real, powerful improvements to people’s health.”
Traditional healthcare for women can be disjointed and, even worse, hard to access. On average, women can expect to wait more than 38 days to see a new primary care physician and 17 days for a gynecology or obstetrics appointment. A quarter of working women lack the time and workplace flexibility to make it to an appointment during traditional clinician hours. 45% of 18- to 29-year-olds report that they don’t have a regular primary care doctor, and many women report getting their primary care from their gynecologist or obstetrician.
In addition to coordinated, personalized care, Liv leverages the latest technology to make healthcare easier and more convenient. Liv members have access to telehealth appointments, online scheduling, same or next day appointments, interactive SMS text for scheduling and cancelling appointments, and a dynamic waitlist to help get patients in sooner if possible. Free, same-day prescription delivery is also available, and pregnant and postpartum patients get 24/7 access to lactation consultants and pediatric nurses through Advantia Health’s Pacify app.
“I’ve found that patients generally like their providers, but are frustrated by the front and back-end processes involved in getting appointments and handling post-appointment activities,” said Dr. Sharon Kressel, lead Ob-Gyn at Liv by Advantia Health. “Those are exactly the problems Liv solves. We are providing the highest quality healthcare and making every aspect of our patients’ experiences better – from scheduling an appointment and walking in the door to talking to your providers and addressing your health needs.”
Liv partnered with Alda Ly Architecture (ALA), an all-female architecture studio, to create a clinic environment that enables comfort, community, and choice. Unique design features help make for a better experience, including a dedicated nook in each exam room with a vanity, a closet for personal items, and a seating area for a partner or post-visit discussion; several telehealth phone booths for privacy and care on-the-go; and a “Mother’s Room” for private nursing, pumping, or changing that will be open to the community.
“I became pregnant with my second child while working on Liv and the project took on a whole new meaning for me.” said ALA founder Alda Ly. “Having gone through two very different pregnancy experiences, I understood more clearly the range of patients’ needs. The personal experiences of members of the ALA and Liv teams truly helped illuminate the design. We are women of all ages, all backgrounds, all races, all orientations—and that’s who this space is for.”
Through the Liv community, members will be invited to virtual events and workshops on relevant health and wellness topics. Members will also receive discounts on classes, seminars, and more through select local partner organizations.
“Access to healthcare for women here in the District is crucial to having healthy families and communities,” said Ward 1 DC Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau. “I’m thrilled to welcome Liv to our community and look forward to their partnership.”
