Chika Duru is the General Counsel at Advantia Health, where he manages the company’s risk from a legal perspective. A tenacious and business-conscious attorney, Chika ensures that Advantia achieves its goals of transforming and improving healthcare for all women by, among other things, managing Advantia’s contracting function with its provider practices and payors. Chika also ensures that Advantia is compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Before joining Advantia, Chika served as the General Counsel for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan District of Columbia (“CareFirst”), formerly known as Trusted Health Plan (District of Columbia), Inc (“Trusted”). As General Counsel at Trusted, Chika managed Trusted’s entire legal function and continued in that capacity after CareFirst acquired Trusted in January 2020. Chika has also worked as an Attorney Advisor for the US Department of Health & Human Services, as well as in the role of Associate in the DC office of a large New York law firm.

Chika received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia, his Juris Doctor from the Howard University School of Law, and his Masters of Law (LLM) from the American University Washington College of Law.

Chika is active and enjoys sports, particularly soccer, as well as live music and travel.
