Advantia Health widens its OB/GYN network within Northern Virginia by partnering with the growing two-office practice led by Dr. Kurian Thott, M.D. FACOG.

ARLINGTON, Va

Advantia Health, a fast-growing innovative healthcare company, earlier this year, partnered with Women’s Health and Surgery Center (WHSC) practice and its offices in Stafford, VA, and Fredericksburg, VA. The partnership cements Advantia’s dominant position as the market leader in Mid-Atlantic Region.

The management team at Advantia is particularly pleased to engage with Dr. Kurian Thott M.D., FACOG, one of WHSC’s leading practitioners. Dr. Thott’s surgical expertise and superior skills have been lauded by top physician associations on multiple occasions, and he is the highest-volume minimally-invasive gynecologic surgeon in the region. Advantia’s decision to acquire the practice hinged on Dr. Thott’s forward-thinking leadership and expansive understanding of today’s cutting-edge health technologies, reinforcing Advantia’s leadership position today and for years to come.

Dr. Thott’s specialties include Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and he has been recognized for outstanding laparoscopic skill and minimally invasive surgery by both the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and Society of Laparo-endoscopic Surgeons (SLS). Dr. Thott has also worked on a number of boards and panels such as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), American Academy of Gynecological Laparoscopists (AAGL), Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons (SLS), and American Urogynecology Society (AUGS).

Dr. Thott completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology training at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. Dr. Thott has been the Chief of OB/GYN at Stafford Hospital since 2009 and is the founder of the not-for-profit Women’s Surgical Institute. He travels nationally and internationally to train surgeons in minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopic hysterectomy and laparoscopic tubal reversals.

The acquisition of the two WHSC practices adds five physicians and two mid-level providers to the Advantia team in Virginia and strengthens Advantia’s leadership in women’s health across the Mid-Atlantic Region. With these expansions, Advantia Health now comprises 98 total providers serving more than 150,000 women and their families across Maryland and Virginia.

“Healthcare is evolving and a physician’s ability to engage in larger regional and national partnerships allows us to leverage our ability to care for women. A strategic partnership with Advantia Health gives practices like ours the platform to scale in a way that was not previously able to be done. We look forward to this new journey in caring for the women of our community.” Kurian Thott MD, Founder, Women’s Health and Surgery Center.

“Our Woman’s Health Hub Model physically and clinically integrates primary care, behavioral health and other commonly utilized services into our OB-GYN practices,” explains Sean Glass, CEO and Co-founder of Advantia Health. “We provide high quality coordinated services to meet women’s needs conveniently and at lower cost. We look forward to bringing this unique model to Virginia in partnership with these new partner practices.”

“With our unique Woman’s Health Hub approach, we build on the trusted relationship that a woman shares with her OB/GYN,” says Dr. Peter Glass, Chief Medical Officer and Co-founder of Advantia Health. “Technology and an innovative care model enable physicians and allied health professionals that join Advantia to thrive in a fast-changing healthcare environment while retaining the culture and benefits of an independent private practice. We are glad this was recognized by our new partners in Virginia and we look forward to expanding through other relationships in the near future.”
